The Department of Astronomy at Yale University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Astronomy. We are especially interested in candidates focused on the study of exoplanets. The position is expected to begin on July 1, 2022.

Faculty members of Yale’s Astronomy Department conduct research, teach undergraduate and graduate astronomy and astrophysics courses, and supervise graduate and undergraduate research. Researchers at Yale have institutional access to the Keck Observatory, the Palomar Observatory, the Lowell Observatory EXtreme PREcision Spectrograph (EXPRES), Simons Observatory, and the Sloan Digital Survey. Yale researchers also have access to a state-of-the-art high-performance computer center through the Yale Center for Research Computing.
We are seeking a highly qualified candidate committed to a career in research and teaching. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D.

- A 3-page statement that highlights past contributions and research accomplishments, and up to 3 additional pages describing plans for future research
- A 1–2-page statement on teaching and mentoring which may include descriptions of classes that the applicant would like to teach and plans for public outreach
- A 1–2-page statement that articulates the applicant’s past activities and future plans with regard to enhancing inclusion and equity as they pertain to teaching, mentorship, research, and service
- At least three letters of reference to be uploaded by the letter writers; the names and email addresses of the referees in the application should be included in the cover letter.
