Talk Title:
Modeling the cosmological evolution of magnetic fields
Event description:

Magnetic fields are ubiquitous in galaxies, around galaxies and possibly in the intergalactic medium. Explaining their origin is a challenging task based on complex MHD numerical simulations. I will report on our recent work modeling the creation of seed fields through the Biermann battery process the amplification of these seed fields through the turbulent dynamo process and finally the dispersion of these equipartition fields in the IGM through galactic outflows. I will discuss the pros and the cons of this scenario in light of current observations.
