Talk Title:
The Holes and Questions in Exoplanet Astrophysics
Event description:
The rapid growth of exoplanets has yielded thousands of discoveries, but there remains a strong bias towards single, main sequence, sun-like stars. I will present our efforts to expand to a greater variety of hosts, including binaries, white dwarfs and M-dwarfs. Through greater diversity we may better understand how and where planets form, and gain a broader appreciation of the intrinsic star-planet connection. Finally, I will discuss how a sun-like star focus may be leveraged with next-generation instruments to fill one of the biggest holes in our field: Earth analogs.
